1988 Honda VFR750R RC30

Honda’s legendary RC30 is one of the greatest Sports Bikes every created. A purpose built road registrable race bike designed and build with one objective, to win the World Superbike Championship, a feat it did convincingly with works rider Fred Merkel in 88 and 99, while in the same years winning the IOM TT with Carl Fogarty.

Whilst all RC30’s are considered collectibles and prove exceptional investment, this is no ordinary RC30. The Suzuka International Racing circuit, owned by Honda, is home to the country’s most prestigious Japanese manufacturer’s race, the Suzuka 8 hour endurance race. Accepted as the Holy Grail of the Japanese bike industry, in 1987 Honda chose this event to release their much awaited new 750cc Superbike, the VFR750R RC30.

Honda supplied 30 plain white RC30’s to be used in the event by travelling marshals, whose job it is to circulate at race speed with the racers throughout the entire 8 hour event. All 30 RC30’s were painted in Ross White (as opposed to the OEM tri-colour scheme which uses a Perl white). At the conclusion of the race several bikes were given as special gifts to high profile riders and/or contacts of Honda, and only one other has ever been imported to Australia.

This RC30 is one of those 30 used in the Suzuka 8 Hours, and is completely unmolested and original with exception to the race muffler & decal on the tank. Originally owned by a Honda employee and garaged only minutes from the Suzuka circuit. Included with the sale is a certificate of authenticity from the Honda Motor Corporation confirming this VIN to be one of the 30 bikes painted in Ross White, thereby making this an extremely rare and highly desirable motorcycle.

As this bike has been garaged for many years and will need a full service, carby clean, & detail etc.  The advertised price is for the sale in as-is condition, but all restoration services and/or maintenance can be performed in-house if required.
