Original IBM XT Complete in great condition. This classic still functions!

DESCRIPTION

This vintage computer, a relic from the mid-1970s, was part of a package deal I acquired while contracting with a vendor for the Navy's ship refit costs and logistics. It was a pivotal tool in my work, where I wrote and then compiled Basic A code to manage the costing estimates and fit-out sequencing. Boosted the RAM from 128k to 320k to accommodate a pop-up editor, enabling me to run the code and modify the source as needed (then recompile and test). This significant RAM upgrade was a game-changer in those costly days!. The 10Mb hard drive, a crucial component, has been meticulously maintained. It has undergone a low-level format followed by a standard full format, ensuring its optimal performance. No errors have been reported, and it runs as well as it ever did! It was loaded with MACE Gold, a software known for its advanced features and user-friendly interface, installed on top of IBM DOS (Easily uninstalled). Offers added functionality on top of standard DOS! Original MACE disks and various OS disks included Spare Floppy (untried) NOTE! It has 320k RAM (upgraded from 128k), but TP does not go back that far in time and does not have a check box in the AD setup! NOTE! The processor is an 8-bit IBM 8088. I think it runs at 4Mhtz. This, too, does not have a check box in the AD setup. That was the general standard in the mid-1970s. By today's standards, it is a bit slow! Now a classic collectable, it was the first of the popular commercial IBM microcomputers. The bus is a standard IBM (proprietary) bus. The external ports are the serial keyboard, external serial model serial, and (I think SCSCI or similar port for external drive or tape drive). The software was all loaded via the floppy disk or the selectable external drive. I recall we had a shared Tall Grass external drive with 10 MB of storage! I also recall we had a tape drive that shared the same external port as the external hard drive. (Sharing was via a manual switch.) These are not available or included. This is a solid piece of kit that would probably cost a fair amount to post! I strongly recommend contacting me to arrange a time to try it out for yourself, buy it, and then carry it away.
