Tired of the lockdowns or city life? On offer here is truly a once in a lifetime rural adventure retreat.
Over more than 20 years of ownership, this bush block has become an adventurer's dream property. The lot is only a 15 minute drive from the Highway via sealed tar roads, but it feels like the middle of nowhere, with the nearest neighbor over a kilometer away. It's a perfect mix of modern convenience like grid power, mail delivery and high speed internet, while still being able to enjoy the serenity.
Relax with a book in the library while the kids swim in the freshwater tidal creek or private harbour (Title deed includes up to the middle of the river). It's also perfect for boats of all sorts. Kayaks, jetskis and tinnies can all use the river easily, navigating upstream for 20+ kilometers, or downstream all the way to the ocean and pristine beaches at Evans Head. Large boats like a 44 foot catamaran have been navigated up the river and moored at the jetty before.
The self-sufficient lifestyle farm has a total of 52 acres (21ha) of fertile river floodplain land situated on 1.8km of deep water riverfront. Approx. 11 acres of that have been planted as a koala conservation habitat while also providing extra privacy from the road. Wildlife is a big attraction of the area, with well over 100+ species of native birds spotted on the property, visible right from the verandah. Water Monitors (Goannas), echidnas and kangaroos are all common sights.
An all weather driveway leads from the tar road to the house. It's a quaint 2 story timber cottage with a wrap around verandah, which was built on stilts to keep it safely out of flood water. Even in severe floods the land around the buildings including the veggie garden and shed is built up to be a safe place to park and store things. The air conditioned, insulated shed is 10x15x6m with 2 mezzanine floors, a bathroom and loads of space for a workshop plus plenty of storage for hobbies like collecting, tinkering or machining. Currently the second floor is used as an entertainment area with a loungeroom, library and verandah overlooking the river. The buildings are sheltered from bushfires with natural and man made fire breaks, including the river right out front.
The property is simply perfect for an adventuring basecamp. Loads of activities are possible on the lot itself or within a short drive, and when you've had enough excitement, head back for a rest in paradise.
Some of the regular activities the owners enjoy:
Mountain biking
Ride the berms at home, then nip down to New Italy Mountain Bike Park in nearby Doubleduke state forest.
Road biking
Tar roads lead to the Pacific highway or many nearby towns.
Motorbiking/Motocross
Hundreds of kilometers of dirt tracks nearby, or use some of the enduro/trials obstacles and tracks setup on the property.

4WDing
Loads of varying difficulty trails in nearby national parks
Abseiling
A 13m high lookout/radio tower sits right out the front of the shed. With the right safety gear and training you can spend all day climbing it, setting up a zipline, or even sitting up the top with a coffee and book.
Rockclimbing
There is a small bouldering wall inside the shed, or take a drive to Cliff road in Jackywalbin state conservation area.
Swimming
Use the jetty, private harbour with sandy beaches or just float down the river with the tides.
Surfing
20 mins to exquisite beaches at Evans Head, or take a short trip to Ballina or the Gold Coast.
Boating
The river is navigable for kilometers in either direction, with a gravel boat ramp and plenty of places to park boats in the water and trailers on the property. Fresh water means no barnacles!
Wakeboarding
Take a 15 min trip to Coraki where water ski races are held, or utilize some of the wider sections of river close to home.
Fishing
Fishing competitions are held in Bungawalbin creek, with one corner of the river known as 'bass bend'. These competitions are almost the only time you'll see a boat go past.
Kayaking
Let the tidal current carry you back home, or get a friend to pick you up at one of the other boat ramps along the river.
Art
The natural landscape makes a great backdrop for your art, currently a pottery wheel and kiln are set up inside the shed. Perhaps utilize the air conditioned cottage as a large art studio and work from home office.
Picnics
There are plenty of nice clearings in the conservation zone or bush for a picnic. If you enjoy garden parties, our old cattle yards have been turned into a secret garden, complete with rope swing, wood fire heated bath and native flowers.
Wildlife
This area is a nature lover’s dream. Both the Bungawalbin and Richmond Estuary clusters have recorded over 52 threatened species with the Lower Bungawalbin Creek identified as a nationally important wetland. Kangaroos love to stand around in the paddocks making a great afternoon view. A Birdwatching group spent one day here and recorded over 75 species.
Koala habitat/Wildlife corridor plantation
Approximately 11 acres of former bush and paddocks have been revegetated with native species and turned into a Wildlife corridor plantation, specifically a Koala habitat to assist their recovery after the terrible bushfires in 2019. This greatly helps the local wildlife and has the added benefit of providing seclusion from the road.
Stargazing
Almost no light pollution means the full milky way is on display during a dark night. Enjoy some astral photography then sit around a campfire in the paddock while tossing around LED frisbees.
For someone who wants adventure and fun, you simply will not find a more usable property than this.
