Rather than develop a saltwater fishing reel built from mostly graphite components, Daiwa has crafted the Saltist HC range nearly entirely out of metal. It Features a super strong 1 piece aluminium frame. The thought process behind using metal is that the components will offer greater reliability when combined with the protective anodized coating.
Corrosion is the enemy in fishing reels. Daiwa has undermined that by including four corrosion resistant ball bearings (CRBBs) to help out. These are also resistant to intrusion from materials such as grit and sand, not to mention saltwater.
