The Equivalence Material is designed to help the child explore the concept of area. by providing a variety of shapes that are subdivided into smaller parts the child can engage in experimentation and exploration to discover the relationship of equivalent figures and eventually the variety of mathematical theorems that explain these relationships.
The set is constructed of metal green metal frames that are cut out for each of the red shapes that form the insets that divide each shape into its smaller parts. Each red inset has a knob by which the user may lift it.
