Taking all the best bits from the original HKC Xplorer, the “Shorty” may be smaller in size, but it makes no compromise on comfort or practicality. The trailer comes with an integrated staircase, which makes reaching the tent and rooftop storage easy and is designed to be set up in under 5 minutes.

THE NEXT GENERATION XPLORER

The 2.0 is the next evolution of our game-changing HKC Xplorer. Offering up the same hallmark features from our original, best-selling model – great value for money, bucket loads of storage, and a comfortable, practical setup – the Shorty brings some key new additions to the table.

The 2.0 offers an increased carrying capacity, has an improved 12V system, and is better set up for adventures offroad, but most importantly, it has been re-engineered so that you’re able to store it away in even a small inner city apartment garage. These upgrades have made the trailer an even better option for those after anything from a weekend away right through to those after a camper capable of a big lap.

SMART STORAGE

Whilst the camper has just about everything you need for your trips away, there’ll still be a few creature comforts of home you’ll want to bring along with you. We’ve designed the 2.0 so that you’re able to maximise the space inside, allowing you to bring all your kit.

There are handy shelves above the kitchen for all your snacks and kitchen utensils. There’s a convenient carton-sized space not far from the fridge. We have also made that there are still a few large storage areas handy for your trestle tables and chairs too.

We’ve also made sure there’s space for some of the essentials. On the exterior, you’ll find a space for a 9KG gas bottle as well 2x 15L jerry cans with another spot for a further 2x 20L jerries. Underneath, there are two water tanks, a 100L tank towards the front with another 70L on the back side.

The point we’re making is – you won’t have a drama getting all your gear inside.

Putting together a combined 90 years of experience, our design team is of a pretty special kind of pedigree – yes, there’s a background in 12V power and lighting – but, better than that, they’ve experienced life offroad.

Our team has taken on the cape, explored the territory, and ventured out to some rarely travelled pockets of the country with names so long you couldn’t even pronounce them. So, when tasked with putting together a trailer that’d tick the boxes of other Aussie adventurers, our team knew what they were looking for. The trailer was designed with four key principles in mind:

ACCESSIBILITY: we wanted a rooftop camper trailer that was accessible to all, regardless of age or physical condition. The integrated staircase we created is unique among rooftop camper trailers in Australia; it has been protected by an Australian Registered Design and is the subject of a patent application.
QUICK SET UP: no one wants to spend ages setting up a camper trailer while everyone else is sitting around the fire, so we were determined to design a trailer that could be fully set up in under 5 minutes by one person.
STORAGE: there’s no point towing a camper trailer if it can’t fit all your travelling equipment inside, so we made sure it could fit in everything you’d need to camp for several weeks at a time.
DURABILITY: we respect the fact that buying a camper trailer is a significant investment so we’ve made sure to build them tough. You can be confident our campers will be able to put up with a bit of punishment, no matter where you take them.
