The Porsche 944 was manufactured between 1982 and 1991, based on the 924 platform it was the third Porsche model featuring a front engine and rear gearbox layout – known as a Transaxle. With over 163,000 944s produced, it was Porsche’s most successful model until the introduction of the Boxster in 1996. With it’s Transaxle design, the 944 benefits from near even front and rear weight distribution allowing for excellent handling and balance.

For the 1986 model year, Porsche introduced the range topping 944 Turbo, featuring an intercooled M44/51 2.5L turbocharged 4 cylinder, delivering 47% more power than the standard 944! The US delivered Turbos in 1987 were the first production cars in the world to be equipped with a drivers and passenger side airbag!

This North American 944 Turbo was delivered on the 9th of May 1987 and has been with its current owner in Melbourne since 2018. Complianced and signed off with a VASS Certificate on the 12th of February 2019, this 944 Turbo is ready to be used and enjoyed.

The 944 Turbo’s M44/51 4 cylinder engine produces a factory claimed 162kW and 0-100 km/h performance of 5.9 seconds, 3 seconds quicker than its naturally aspirated sibling. Its options included a Limited Slip Differential, Sports Shock Absorbers and Factory Sunroof.

Finished in the popular combination of Guards Red over Parchment leather/leatherette trim, this 944 features an aftermarket Sony CD Tuner with USB input and has a very usable boot so is practical for a weekend away. This classic Turbo from the 80s featuring trademark pop-up headlights is now ready to be enjoyed by it’s next custodian
