Power boat accessories for fun on the water
The right power boat accessories can make boating safer, easier, more comfortable and more fun. Of course, there are a number of ‘must-have’ power boat accessories - such as a compass, life jackets, fire extinguisher, etc. – find out exactly what you are required to have, and ensure your power boat is fully decked out before you hit the water.
Once you’ve sorted out all your comfort and safety power boat accessories, you might be interested in investing in something a little more fun. Power boats are becoming increasingly popular for activities such as wakeboarding, waterskiing and tube riding.
If you like the idea in getting involved in water activities, here’s some information on some of the power boat water sports accessories you can buy:
Wakeboards
Wakeboarding generally involves riding a wakeboard over the surface of a body of water, while being towed by a power boat. A wakeboard is a buoyant board, usually made of foam and fibreglass, resembling something along the lines of a surfboard combined with a snowboard.
There are a range of wakeboards available that vary according to the user’s size and level of expertise.
Water-skis
In waterskiing, the individual – on water-skis, of course - is pulled behind a power boat across a body of water. The most common types of water-skis are the single slalom ski, or combination ski pairs. Combination pairs, with wider tips allowing more control, are better for beginners; one of the combination skis will be designed also for single use, so once you’ve mastered the basics you can tackle slalom.
Towable tubes
For a fun activity that doesn’t require much skill, you can try tube towing. Tube towing works in a similar way to waterskiing and wakeboarding – the inflatable tube is attached by a tow line and skims along the water behind your power boat – but it’s not nearly as difficult to master. Towable tubes are great for kids, and are available in a range of shapes and sizes.
