2008 pajero diesel problems Page 2

The 2008 Pajero 3.2 Di‑D is tough as a jaffle iron, but it’s not indestructible.

• EGR and intake carbon build-up causing rough idle and flat spots; a clean and a decent highway run work wonders.
• Suction Control Valve on the high‑pressure pump leading to hard starting, surging or stalling; cheap part, big symptoms.
• Intercooler and turbo hoses splitting or popping off under boost, sending it into limp mode; look for oil mist and soft hoses.
• Ageing injectors bringing diesel rattle, smoke and poor economy; a proper diagnostic beats guesswork.
• Suspension bushes, ball joints and shocks wearing from corrugations and towing; clunks and wander are your clues.
• Super Select 4WD with neglected fluids or sticky actuators; confirm smooth 2H–4H–4HLc–4LLc engagement on a test drive.

Buy with your eyes open: chase a stamped service history, check for beach-use corrosion, and get a pre‑purchase inspection before the romance takes over.
