The 2010 Mazda CX-7 is the SUV that thinks it’s a hot hatch, then reminds you at the bowser that it drinks like a sailor on shore leave.
It steers crisply, rides firmly, and the cabin’s still a nice place to be, but rear space and boot aren’t standout for a family hauler.
The 2.3-litre turbo petrol loves regular servicing; neglect can mean stretched timing chains, VVT/turbo troubles and transfer case leaks on AWDs.
Look for a full service history, smooth cold start, and no shudder under load; if it’s tidy, you get plenty of grip and grin for not much money.
Safety and kit were strong for its day, but fuel economy is the trade-off; choose with your heart, budget for maintenance, and you’ll be fine.
