2017 holden astra prox key programming Page 3

Programming a proximity key for a 2017 Holden Astra isn’t a backyard battery swap—it requires security credentials and dealer-level diagnostic gear to sync the immobiliser.

The smart move is a Holden service centre or a licensed automotive locksmith: bring the car, proof of ownership, and any remaining keys.

They’ll cut the emergency blade, pair the new fob, and re-initialise the system so all current keys work (lost ones can be deleted).

Expect a few hundred AUD depending on region and kit; those sketchy “DIY” guides can leave you locked out faster than you can say flat battery.

When buying a spare, match the part to your VIN and avoid used fobs that are already married to another vehicle.
