40 to 1 fuel ratio Page 2

A 40:1 fuel ratio means 40 parts unleaded petrol to 1 part two-stroke oil — mostly go-juice with a polite splash of lubrication.

In real numbers, that’s 25 mL of oil per 1 L of petrol; for 5 L use 125 mL, and for 10 L use 250 mL.

Measure the oil properly, pour it into a clean jerry can first, add fresh petrol, then give it a hearty shake like a judgmental martini.

Too little oil risks a cooked piston; too much makes smoke and fouls plugs — neither impresses the neighbours.
