age to sit in front seat victoria Page 2

In Victoria, it’s not about a magic birthday—it’s about child restraint rules.

Under 4: cannot sit in the front seat if the vehicle has two or more rows.

4 to under 7: may sit in the front only if all rear seats are already occupied by children under 7, and they must use an approved booster/child seat.

7 and over: can sit in the front with a properly adjusted seatbelt, but safety bodies recommend kids stay in the back until at least 12.

So yes, the front seat isn’t banned—just heavily conditional, like lending your ute to your cousin.
