apple car key Page 20

Ah, the Apple Car Key—your digital valet that lives in your iPhone or Apple Watch. It’s a nifty feature that allows you to unlock, lock, and start compatible vehicles with a tap or a glance using NFC technology. Compatibility is currently limited to select BMW models and a smattering of others, so don’t expect your old beat-up hatch to magically obey your Apple device just yet.

Security-wise, it uses encrypted communication, so your car’s not going to be hijacked by your neighbour’s tech-savvy toddler. The feature requires iOS 14 or later and BMW's latest software updates. If you’re looking to flaunt this at the next BBQ, check listings on Tradingpost to find an Apple Car Key-ready vehicle.
