are car meets illegal in australia Page 63

No, car meets aren’t illegal in Australia by default; it’s what people do at them that gets the lights flashing.

Meet on private property with permission, or in public spaces with council/event approval, obey the road rules, and you’re fine.

Start hooning—burnouts, racing, blocking roads—or run unroadworthy cars, and expect fines, defects, and even impounds under state anti-hoon laws.

Police can issue move-on directions, and organisers may need permits, traffic management, and to mind noise, parking and litter.

Keep it lawful, insured where required, and respectful, and the only thing getting roasted should be tyres on a sanctioned track—not your wallet.
