ato cents per km rate 2023 Page 5

Chasing the ATO cents‑per‑km rate for 2023? For the 2022–23 income year it was 78 c/km, and from 1 July 2023 (the 2023–24 year) it’s 85 c/km.

This method bundles your running costs—fuel, servicing, rego, insurance and depreciation—so you don’t claim those separately.

You can claim up to 5,000 business km per car per year, and you’ll need a sensible record of how you worked it out.

Keep it tidy, claim what’s genuine, and everyone sleeps better; check the ATO for the latest fine print.
