average cost of car service australia Page 6

In Australia, a routine logbook service for a mainstream car typically runs about AUD $200–$450 at an independent workshop, or $300–$650 at a dealer.

Major interval services (40k/60k/100k) can land between $600–$1,200+, and timing-belt jobs or DCT/DSG fluid changes can push it higher. Euro or luxury badges? Budget $500–$900 for a minor and $1,200–$2,000 for a major—because prestige likes a pricey pit stop. EVs are cheaper to “service” (mostly inspections and fluids) at roughly $150–$300, but tyres, brakes and cabin filters still want their tribute. Capped-price servicing can blunt the pain early on; after that, a good independent often wins on value. Location matters too—city dealers charge more than a country shed with a kettle and a very honest dog.
