The Bernese Mountain Dog is a large, sturdy breed known for its striking tri-colour coat and gentle temperament. Originating from the Swiss Alps, these dogs are heavyweights, often tipping the scales at 35-55 kg and standing 58-70 cm tall. They're famously good-natured, making them excellent family pets, but their thick double coat demands regular grooming to keep shedding in check. Expect a lifespan of around 7-10 years, and watch out for common health issues like hip dysplasia and certain cancers.
