best 4x4 fridge Page 3

Heading into the bush without a decent fridge is like bringing warm lettuce to a sausage sizzle—technically food, spiritually wrong.

The best 4x4 fridge depends on how you travel, but the standouts are Dometic CFX3, Engel MT-V, and ARB Zero.

• Dometic CFX3: pros—lightweight, efficient compressor, app control; cons—pricey and fans can whirr louder than a magpie in spring.
• Engel MT-V: pros—legendary swing motor reliability and steel toughness; cons—heavier and a bit old-school on features.
• ARB Zero: pros—robust build, dual-zone options, neat tie-downs; cons—chunky weight and app niggles if you’re unlucky.

Pick capacity to suit (40–60 L for most tourers), run proper wiring, and add an auxiliary battery so the frothies stay frosty when camp runs long.
