best affordable suv australia 2023 Page 3

Hunting for the best affordable SUV in Australia for 2023 is like choosing a footy team—plenty of passion, not much consensus.

• Toyota RAV4 Hybrid: Pros – superb fuel economy and resale; Cons – long wait times and creeping prices.
• Mazda CX-5: Pros – classy cabin and tidy handling; Cons – tighter rear space and no hybrid.
• Hyundai Tucson: Pros – value, tech, and a long warranty; Cons – ride can get fidgety on big wheels and thirstier than hybrids.
• Mitsubishi Outlander (incl. PHEV): Pros – seven seats and a frugal plug-in option; Cons – third row is small and PHEV costs more.

Test-drive the shortlist, check running costs, and compare real-world deals; Tradingpost is handy for pricing reality checks and used options without the hard sell.
