best car finance rates melbourne

Chasing the best car finance rates in Melbourne? Good—because giving the bank extra interest for no reason is about as fun as Punt Road at 5pm. Focus on the comparison rate, not just the headline rate; fees and loan terms can turn a “bargain” into a budget boomerang. Check banks, credit unions, online lenders and dealer finance, then get same-day quotes so you’re comparing apples with apples.

New cars often score lower secured rates than older used ones, and while balloon payments can shrink monthly costs, they usually mean paying more overall. Consider novated leasing if you’re salaried, or a chattel mortgage for ABN holders—different tax perks, different fine print. Pre-approval strengthens your haggling hand on the lot (yes, even on Tradingpost), and a solid deposit plus a 3–5 year term generally keeps costs tidy.
