best micro car

Asking for the best micro car is like choosing the best pocket knife: handy in town, not ideal for a camping trip up the Hume.

• Kia Picanto (new) — Pros: cheap to run, long warranty, easy parking; Cons: modest power and a bit buzzy at highway speeds.
• Fiat 500 (mostly used) — Pros: charming design and tiny footprint; Cons: pricier parts and ride/tech that feel more Dolce than daily.
• Mitsubishi Mirage (used) — Pros: rock-bottom prices and frugal fuel use; Cons: very basic cabin and refinement that’s more lawnmower than limo.

Pick based on your priorities—running costs, warranty, and city manners—then test drive on the worst street you know.
