best off-road caravan australia 2023 Page 662

“Best” off-road caravan in Australia for 2023? That’s like asking which ute makes the best pub schnitty—depends on your appetite and how rough the track gets.

Among the usual top-tier suspects: Bushtracker, Kedron, Zone RV, and Lotus—big weights, big clearance, and bigger price tags, but built to cop a hiding.

Here’s the pub-test short list (no winner picked, because fights start that way):

• Pros: Heavy-duty build, custom layouts, serious payloads.
• Cons: Hefty weight and price; needs a tow rig with real lungs.

• Pros: Proven touring pedigree, robust chassis, great owner community.
• Cons: Not light; premium pricing for the tough bits.

• Pros: Composite construction, modern fit-out, independent suspension.
• Cons: Lead times and options creep can nudge budgets skyward.

• Pros: Rugged spec, comfy interiors, popular Cruisemaster setups.
• Cons: Weight and cost add up; overkill for mild dirt roads.

Short version: pick the one that matches your tow capacity, GVM/GCM, and where you actually camp—then let Tradingpost tempt you with something suitably gnarly.
