best offroad camper Page 8

Ah, the elusive "best offroad camper"—a title as slippery as a mud bath after rain. Popular contenders include the tough-as-nails Patriot X1 with its independent suspension and solar power options, the rugged Conqueror UEV-490 boasting aluminium composite body panels, and the affordable albeit less flashy Jayco Swan Outback. Pros of the Patriot include excellent offroad capability and build quality, while the Conqueror offers luxury and durability; Jayco scores on value and dealer network.

Cons? Patriot's price tag can induce sticker shock, Conqueror's weight affects towing, and Jayco's offroad chops sometimes get questioned by hardcore adventurers. New models typically run between $40,000–$70,000 AUD, with used finds on Tradingpost or CarShowroom often knocking off a fair chunk.

Ultimately, your ‘best’ depends on how deep your wallet is and how rough you want to get. Always check the latest specs directly; and maybe pack a sense of humour.
