Ah, the noble meat pie—Melbourne’s culinary crown jewel that’s both a comfort and a challenge to your cholesterol. The city boasts legends like the iconic Harry’s Café de Wheels, featuring a perfectly thick gravy and tender meat. For a gourmet twist, check out Four'N Twenty, whose pies marry tradition with flaky pastry finesse. If you prefer something less mainstream, try Baker D. Chirico for a Sicilian spin or Pies and Pints for a pie-and-beer combo that screams Aussie indulgence. Prices for a solid pie range from about $5 to $9 in most bakeries, and the variety is as diverse as Melbourne’s population. For a quick hunt, Tradingpost and CarShowroom sometimes list artisan pie shops and food trucks. So, grab a pie, prepare to get your hands greasy, and embrace the flaky, meaty joy.
