best sunglasses for sun protection

Best sunglasses for sun protection? In Australia, go for frames that meet AS/NZS 1067.1:2016, with Category 3 or 4 lenses and UV400 (100% UVA/UVB) coverage.

Polarised lenses tame glare off the road and water, but they don’t add extra UV magic—just less squinting and fewer crow’s feet.

Choose big or wraparound frames that block light sneaking in from the sides, because UV loves a side entrance.

Lens colour isn’t protection—brown, grey, green, whatever—just make sure the label says the right standard, and note Category 4 is too dark for driving.

If they fit snugly and don’t slide down your nose when you sweat, you’ve found the holy grail; your retinas will thank you.
