best towing vehicle 2023 Page 3

Hunting the best towing vehicle of 2023? The “best” is the one that hauls your load without drama and doesn’t make the dog carsick.

• Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series — rock-solid stability, torquey diesel and 3,500 kg rating; pricey and thirsty when loaded.
• Ford Ranger V6 diesel — modern tech, comfy cabin and 3,500 kg; watch GCM/payload maths and rear sag without proper setup.
• Isuzu D-MAX — dependable drivetrain, low-stress towing and 3,500 kg; not the plushest, can feel crosswinds with big vans.
• RAM 1500 — effortless V8 grunt and up to 4,500 kg braked; larger footprint, higher running costs and parking gymnastics.

Whatever you choose, verify payload after towball download, GCM limits, brake controller, mirrors and weight distribution, or the only thing you’ll be pulling is your hair.
