best towing vehicle under 10k australia Page 2

With $10k in Australia, you’re shopping older-but-tough tow rigs, not shiny new toys.

Top picks to hunt down: Mitsubishi Pajero (early‑to‑mid 2000s), Nissan Patrol GU (watch service history on early 3.0s), Toyota Prado 90/120 if you find an honest one, plus the Ford Territory diesel or Nissan Pathfinder R51 for comfy touring—all capable of hauling a decent mid‑size van when correctly equipped.

Look for heavy‑duty tow pack, electric brake controller, and cooling/transmission servicing; a neglected tow wagon is a boat anchor with seats.

Prioritise condition over badges, check the compliance plate for braked capacity, GVM/GCM and towbar rating, and weigh your setup properly.

Classifieds like Tradingpost are your friend; patience nets the good ones while the clapped‑out specials loudly advertise themselves with mismatched tyres.
