best value roadside assistance Page 6

Chasing the best value roadside assistance without selling a kidney? In Australia, the state motoring clubs—NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAA, RAC, and RACT—are the safest bet, with basic cover around $90–$130/year, mid-tier $150–$220, and premium touring about $240–$360.

Insurer add-ons and bank freebies can be cheaper ($70–$110), but they often cap towing and callouts, so read the fine print like it owes you money. Look for unlimited callouts, decent towing distance (50–100 km or more), battery/tyre/lockout coverage, and national reciprocity if you’re road-tripping. New cars often include roadside while you service with the dealer, which is lovely until the free scones stop. Pick the tier that matches your commute and holidays, not your aspirations, and you’ll save more than enough for a servo pie.
