blade batteries Page 8

Blade batteries are the latest buzz in the EV world, primarily championed by BYD, a Chinese automaker that likes to stir the pot. These batteries are a type of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell, designed with a long, thin, blade-like shape, which allows for better space utilization and improved safety. They boast high energy density and are less prone to thermal runaway, meaning they’re less likely to burst into flames—always a plus.

In Australia, vehicles equipped with blade batteries are still a niche, but expect them to pop up more frequently on sites like Tradingpost and CarShowroom as the tech gains traction. Plus, their longevity and cost-effectiveness make them a tempting choice compared to traditional lithium-ion packs. For the nitty-gritty specs and safety certifications, consult official documentation from the manufacturer.
