bp 98 octane fuel Page 628

BP 98 octane fuel (BP Ultimate 98) is premium unleaded rated at 98 RON, built to resist knock in high-compression and turbo engines.

If your car specifies 98, use it; if it only calls for 91 or 95, you can run 98 safely, but don’t expect it to turn a commuter into a Supercar—though its detergents can help keep things clean.

Engines tuned for higher octane may deliver slightly better economy or power; others will see marginal gains at best.

In Australia, expect a price premium at the bowser—often 10–30+ cents per litre over 91—so do the maths before you treat the tank.
