Broome is a coastal town in Western Australia’s Kimberley, about 2,200 km north of Perth, where the red dirt meets an absurdly blue ocean.
It’s famed for Cable Beach’s 22 km of white sand, camel trains at sunset, and a pearling history around Chinatown; from March to October, low tides over Roebuck Bay create the “Staircase to the Moon.” Expect a tropical climate—wet season November to April with heavy rain and the odd cyclone, dry season May to October with warm, clear days. It’s also a launch pad for the Dampier Peninsula and Horizontal Falls if you like your holidays shaken, not stirred.
