Buying a car in NSW from QLD is perfectly doable—just a little interstate tango.
Drive it home on its existing QLD rego (or grab an unregistered vehicle permit), but once in NSW you’ll need a Blue Slip (AUVIS) inspection—not a QLD Safety Certificate, which NSW politely ignores.
Then sort a CTP Green Slip, take your proof of purchase, ID and NSW address to Service NSW, and pay stamp duty plus registration to get shiny NSW plates.
If it still has QLD rego, arrange cancellation with TMR and chase any refund; plates go back to QLD, not on your shed wall.
Do the NSW registration promptly (generally within about 14 days) to avoid attention from the fun-police.
Simple plan: buy, Blue Slip, Green Slip, pay the bills, plate up—then brag about your cross-border bargain on the school run.
