Buying a car privately in Queensland is like navigating a minefield with a blindfold—but hey, at least you might snag a bargain. First, always check the vehicle's registration status and any outstanding debts or finance through the Personal Property Security Register. You'll need to complete a Transfer of Ownership form and lodge it with the Department of Transport and Main Roads within 14 days, or risk penalties. Beware: private sales often come "as is," so get a thorough inspection before parting with your cash. And don't forget to haggle—everyone loves a good haggle, especially when you can back it up with facts from Tradingpost or CarShowroom listings.
