buying a classic car Page 9078

Buying a classic car is equal parts romance and rust, so take a torch, a magnet and your best poker face.

Chase solid bodywork, verifiable history and parts availability first; fantasies about “easy resto” come later with a stiff cuppa.

Budget for inspection, insurance and a contingency fund (because something will squeak, leak or both), and check club rego rules in your state.

Drive it before money changes hands, confirm matching numbers where it matters, and walk away if the seller’s story changes faster than the tachometer.

When you’re ready, a browse on Tradingpost can separate proper survivors from backyard fairy tales, and maybe save your shed — and marriage — from ruin.
