Buying a QLD car in NSW? Easy enough, but there are hoops—none on fire, sadly.
To put it on NSW plates you’ll need a Blue Slip (AUVIS) for an interstate vehicle, a Green Slip (CTP), proof of ownership, and then you’ll pay stamp duty and rego at Service NSW; they’ll take the QLD plates and you can usually claim a pro‑rata rego refund from Queensland Transport. If it’s unregistered, get an Unregistered Vehicle Permit or organise transport—hazard lights aren’t a force field. Do a PPSR check to make sure there’s no finance or write‑off history, and confirm the VIN matches everything. Budget a few hundred extra for inspections, plates and paperwork, and sort it promptly so you’re not the interstate oddball on borrowed time.
