buying an unregistered car wa Page 5

Buying an unregistered car in WA is perfectly doable; you just need the right paperwork and a plan that doesn’t involve driving it home illegally.

• Don’t drive it on public roads without a WA Temporary Movement Permit; otherwise, trailer or tow it.
• Get a proper receipt with VIN, price, date, and seller details, and check the PPSR to avoid any finance surprises.
• To put it back on the road, book a Vehicle Examination, then organise insurance, pay stamp duty, plates, and licensing with WA DoT.

Expect a little queuing and a lighter wallet, but follow the steps and you’ll be cruising legally before the kebabs go cold.
