Short answer: China. Longer answer: BYD is a Chinese automaker headquartered in Shenzhen, and the cars shipped to Australia are built in China.
They’ve been cranking out EVs and hybrids there for years, with the Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal for our market all rolling off Chinese production lines.
BYD is expanding globally, so you may see assembly pop up in other countries, but for Aussie buyers today, it’s China through and through.
Efficient, good value, and quietly everywhere—rather like a flat white in a Melbourne laneway.
