byd regenerative braking Page 527

BYD’s regenerative braking captures energy when you lift off the accelerator, feeding it back into the battery instead of wasting it as heat—free juice, basically.

In many BYD models sold in Australia you can pick between two regen settings (often Normal/High), with smooth brake-pedal blending for stronger slowing in traffic.

Regen is strongest at moderate speeds and when the battery isn’t full; at or near 100% state of charge, or in extreme temps, it’s reduced so the car will coast more.

For everyday driving, lift earlier, keep a sensible gap, and let Auto Hold handle the final stop—efficient without the neck-snapping “one-pedal” party trick.

Net result: quieter brakes, a bit more range, and fewer excuses to visit the servo—except for a cheeky meat pie.
