can a dog sit on a passengers lap qld

Ah, the classic 'dog-on-lap' conundrum in Queensland. Legally, there’s no explicit ban on a dog sitting on a passenger's lap, but safety and distraction laws do apply. Queensland's road rules demand that the driver isn’t distracted, and a wriggly furball on your lap might just be that.

Plus, in the event of an accident, an unrestrained dog is a projectile, risking injury to itself and humans. So, while it’s not outright illegal, it’s highly discouraged. For the safety-conscious (and the law-abiding), securing your pooch with a proper restraint or pet barrier is the smarter move.
