can l platers tow a trailer vic Page 460

Ah, the eternal question for our freshly licensed L-plate heroes in Victoria: Can you tow a trailer? The short answer is yes, but with some strings attached. Under VicRoads rules, L platers can tow trailers as long as the combination doesn't exceed the maximum towing capacity of the vehicle and the trailer weight limits.

Key points:

• L-plate drivers must adhere to the same towing laws as full license holders.
• The trailer’s gross vehicle mass (GVM) plus the vehicle’s GVM must not exceed the rating specified in the vehicle’s manual.
• Ensure your trailer is properly registered and roadworthy.
