can you drive a v6 on your ps qld Page 3

Ah, the classic Queensland P-plate conundrum—can you unleash the snarling beast of a V6 engine? The short answer: it depends on the vehicle's power-to-weight ratio and the specific restrictions applied to your P-plate license. Queensland's graduated licensing system focuses more on power-to-weight limits than engine size, so a V6 isn't outright banned.

Key points:

• P-plate drivers must not drive vehicles with a power-to-weight ratio exceeding 130 kW per tonne.
• It's the power output and weight, not the number of cylinders, that counts.
• Always check the latest Queensland Department of Transport guidelines to confirm your vehicle's eligibility.

In short, a V6 can be fine if it’s a modest performer, but don’t get cocky and pick a supercharged muscle car expecting leniency. For your next ride, browse Tradingpost or CarShowroom to find P-plate friendly motors that won’t leave you stranded or fined.
