Short answer: no—old rego papers alone won’t sell a car in Australia.
They’re handy for VIN/engine details, but you still need proper transfer paperwork with matching ID, a signed receipt, and whatever your state requires (think roadworthy/safety certificate where applicable).
Do the transfer online or at the authority (Service NSW, VicRoads, TMR QLD, etc.), and let the buyer verify the car with a PPSR check so no one inherits a secret loan.
Bring current rego status and the right forms; keep the yellowing relics for nostalgia, not legality.
