cann river to bombala Page 14

The straightforward run from Cann River to Bombala is up the Monaro Highway, a sealed two‑lane ribbon through forests and high country. Expect sweeping bends, some logging-truck traffic, and the odd kamikaze kangaroo—dusk and dawn are the danger shifts.

Fuel, food and loos at either end; precious little in the middle, so top up before you point north. Mobile coverage can be patchy, and winter brings fog and black ice, so pack patience and a jumper. If you’re towing, it’s fine—just give the climbs and descents the respect they deserve and keep your braking smooth. It’s a scenic drive rather than a sprint; add a buffer to your ETA and enjoy the quiet.
