car engine light on Page 8683

That glowing engine icon isn’t a friendly suggestion; it’s your car’s way of coughing politely before yelling. Common culprits include a loose fuel cap, tired oxygen sensor, misfire from a coil or plug, a grumpy MAF, or a clogged catalytic converter.

If the light is steady, drive gently and get an OBD2 scan—most workshops can do it, and cheap readers work a treat. If it’s flashing, that’s misfire territory: pull over soonish to avoid cooking the cat and your wallet. Check the fuel cap clicks tight, note any rough running or poor economy, then book a diagnosis rather than playing parts roulette. Sort it promptly and your car will stop judging you from the dash.
