In WA, getting a car licence is refreshingly straightforward: get a learner's permit, pass the Hazard Perception Test, then the Practical Driving Assessment.
For your Ls you'll pass a theory test and eyesight check, display L plates, and log 50 hours of supervised driving including 5 hours at night.
Once you pass the PDA (and you're at least 17), you'll move to a provisional licence with P plates for 2 years, zero BAC, and no mucking about with phones.
Book via the WA Department of Transport; fees apply and test slots vanish faster than hot chips at the beach, so plan ahead.
