car logos and names australia Page 19

Australia’s car scene is a buffet, so the badges you’ll spot range from humble to hoity-toity. Think Toyota’s three ovals, Ford’s blue oval, Holden’s lion (still everywhere, even if the brand’s retired), Hyundai’s slanted H, Mazda’s wings, Mitsubishi’s triple diamonds, and Subaru’s stars. Euro regulars include Volkswagen’s VW roundel, Audi’s four rings, BMW’s blue-and-white, Mercedes’ three-pointed star, Peugeot’s lion, Renault’s diamond, and Škoda’s winged arrow. New-school names: MG’s octagon, BYD’s block letters, GWM/Haval, LDV’s crest, Chery’s double ellipse, plus EV darlings like Polestar’s compass. Premium flair shows up with Lexus’ stylised L, Jaguar’s big cat, and Porsche’s crest if your wallet does bicep curls.
