Two years without a service? That’s not “low maintenance”, that’s rolling the dice with a spanner.
Oil degrades, coolant additives expire, brake fluid absorbs moisture, and rubber belts and tyres age whether you drive or not—so even low‑km cars can suffer.
Expect risks like sludged oil, weak battery, clogged filters, and seized brake sliders; timing belts and water pumps are on borrowed time by age, not just kilometres.
Book a full logbook service plus a safety inspection: fresh engine oil and filter, air/cabin/fuel filters as needed, brake fluid (every 2 years), coolant (per schedule), check spark plugs, belts, hoses, tyres, and a battery test.
If it’s a timing belt engine and it’s over the age interval (often 4–6 years), do the belt and water pump pre‑emptively—far cheaper than an engine rebuild.
Afterwards, stick to 10,000–15,000 km or 12 months intervals, whichever comes first; your wallet and your engine will sleep better.
