car sale agreement

A car sale agreement is the boring-but-essential handshake in writing between buyer and seller in Australia. It should include full names and addresses, licence numbers, the VIN, plate number, odometer, the agreed price/deposit, payment method, and any conditions (like RWC or rego transfer). Include a statement that the car has clear title and no finance owing, plus “sold as is” unless a warranty is explicitly promised; do a PPSR check to be sure. Cooling-off and statutory warranties mostly apply to dealer sales and vary by state, so read the fine print. Both parties sign and date two copies and swap photo ID—no signatures, no sale. Keep it tidy, keep it truthful, and everyone gets to sleep at night.
