In Australia, most new cars now come with around 5 years of warranty (often unlimited km), provided you service on time and don’t treat the logbook like fiction.
It covers manufacturing defects in the big-ticket bits—engine, transmission, driveline, electrics, infotainment and body hardware—but not wear-and-tear items like brake pads, tyres, wiper blades, or that coffee you spilled during a “spirited” take-off.
You can generally use any licensed mechanic who follows the logbook, and keep receipts like they’re heirlooms; skip services and the goodwill evaporates faster than a free sausage sizzle.
Regardless of the badge, Australian Consumer Law still backs you if there’s a major fault, which is comforting when the “Check Engine” light starts writing novels.
